We play in all weather and all seasons, and balance this with our commitment to keep our staff and the families we work with safe at all times. We have access to indoor, temporary shelters if needed for our sessions, and there are occasions when we will still need to cancel our programs in the event of inclement weather.

Our greatest safeguard to staying safe in all weather is dressing appropriately for the weather, and taking care of our needs, (such as hydrating appropriately and eating enough food). We recommend to parents that their children come equipped with the following clothing:

  • Waterproof clothing (including pants, jacket, boots)
  • A full change of clothes
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Water bottle/snacks

In cold, winter weather add:

  • Warm, insulating layers
  • Waterproof hat and mitts
  • Snow pants/jacket
  • Snow boots

Under normal circumstances and increasingly, due to climate change, we are faced with inclement weather that poses severe risk to staff and families either driving to get to our programs or in their play. We are constantly assessing these risks, watching weather forecasts, adhering to weather warnings, and either making adjustments to the programming or canceling programs with as much notice as possible.

Examples of inclement weather include: thunder and lightning storms, severe cold warnings, wind storms, hurricanes or tornadoes, extreme heat warnings, etc.

FEES

Playful Mindset is committed to the financial security of our staff, and in the sustainability of our programs and therefore, if a session is canceled, or cut short due to extreme weather, no refund of fees will be provided. Regardless of weather conditions, our staff will be paid for their time, and our expenses remain the same.

We greatly appreciate your support and understanding, and thank you for understanding the fluidity and flexibility required when connecting to and delivering programs on the land.
